Blessed by God and through much prayer, contemplation and spiritual, emotional and mental healing: Brown was able to overcome the "Bondage of the Past" which promised to leave her hopeless, defeated & broken.

As an author, motivational speaker, human development specialist, CEO of Daphne Brown Seminars: Brown helps women, girls, youth and people of color to transform their lives, RISE to their highest potential & utilize their God given talent.
Brown was raised in the housing projects & faced life without a father. She experienced the murder of a family friend, teen-aged pregnancy, poverty, domestic abuse, racism, sexism, single parenting and the social invisibility that many women, girls, youth and people of color face.
Daphne Brown is a Ph.D candidate in Educational Leadership from St. Mary's University of Minnesota. She earned a dual Master’s Degree in Management/Health and Human Services Administration and Master’s Degree in Human Development/Curriculum Development from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota. She also has a Bachelor’s Degree from Metropolitan State University in St. Paul, Minnesota. Daphne is a former elected Commissioner of Human Relations & Equal Opportunity for the City of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota.

Brown has two daughters Ashlee and Alaina. In her free time the author/speaker enjoys traveling, intellectual conversation, family and friends, world affairs, interior decorating, reading, jazz, r/b, gospel, antiques, sports & the theater & arts.
Brown has a long family history of Dynamic, Intelligent, and Directed women... which includes Oprah Winfrey and Mavis Staples. They have much in common: Giving Spirit, Intellect, Family and Community Connection, Spiritual Awakening and Sheer Love for Making a Difference in the lives of others.
