With great contemplation and
prayer, I began to write my book one word at a time. I hesitated to write
the book, because of the personal nature of the book’s contents. I began to
write the book and stopped, but God was calling me to tell my story. He
poked and prodded me until I gave in. I would often asked the question of
God, "Why call me and my imperfect self?"
What if people gossiped,
exaggerated, and used my "past bondage" against me? What if they questioned
my integrity,
disliked me because of my story, said bad things about my book, critiqued my
book and not like it, found spelling or grammatical errors in my book or
thought that I was putting my father down?
God wouldn't allow me to use my
fear and trepidation as an excuse to disobey his purpose for me. So, he
carried me throughout the writing, editing, publishing and pain and
tears of writing my book.
Oh, how glad I am that he carried
me, prodded me & simply wouldn’t leave me alone. God has authored my life,
gifts and talents and has given me the great opportunity to tell my story
and help transform the lives of many. I have found my purpose through God.
Utilizing my writing, speaking, articulation, and life story is what God
wanted for me. Uplifting his glory and wonder is my entire purpose. His will
is my will. If my story can inspire others to reach their highest potential
and utilize their God given talent and purpose. Then I have truly reached my
highest calling from the Lord.
Is a compilation of my life story
and its unexpected hills and valleys. The book's contents consist of poignant
chronicles, narratives, stories, accounts, bible verses, “Talking Points”
and
Spiritual, Emotional, Mental lessons that were “life changing” and defined
by my "bondage of the past." All my life accounts have shaped and made me
the person that I am today. I am truly grateful that I am not defined by ONE
experience in my life, and that my life experiences are an amalgamation of
who and what I am today.
The chapters are listed according
to my chronicled life experiences. Listed below are sample chapters &
excerpts.
“Planting the Seed”
Excerpt:
I was delivered down south, by a
midwife in a small, weather beaten, shotgun style house. Born into a
segregated, sequestered, marginalized, poverty stricken existence was know
why for any American child to greet the world. But in 1963 this was the
reality for most African-American children & their families.......
Redemption for my Father
Excerpt:
In the summer of 1995, I made plans
to visit my "Daddy" for the second time in my life. It had been twenty-three
years since I last saw or heard from him. This visit would be a different
experience from my first visit twenty-three years before. I was an adult, in
control of my life, and he couldn't physically beat me anymore. I had
forgiven him for abandoning me and abusing me years earlier, and wanted to see
him, this man I knew as my "Daddy" at least one more time............
Sisterhood
Excerpt:
Outside of my friend's home, a
crowd of people grew larger and larger, including the accused murderer's
family. The whole crowd of people were holding their breath and waiting for
my sister's best friend to walk down her steep stairway and through the
doorway of her apartment. We
were hoping for her to tell the whole crowd that this entire ruckus was just
rumor and a farce.......
Woman to Woman
Excerpt:
Why do we flinch and put down a
beautiful woman when she walks into the room? Is it fair that we make snap
judgments about her and try to find fault with her beauty, career,
socio-economic status, clothes, education, hairstyle.......
How to Pray?

Prayer is communicating with God.
Learning to pray to God for what you need, want, and desire is essential to
